Winston Soboyejo

Dr. Winston Soboyejo is the seventh president of the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) in Utica, NY.
He has over three decades of teaching, research, academic leadership, and industry experience, and a record of building global research and educational partnerships.
Prior to coming to SUNY Poly, Dr. Soboyejo had served as Interim President at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, and as President and Provost of the African University of Science and Technology in Abuja, Nigeria. He has also held faculty positions at Princeton, The Ohio State University, and MIT.
His research focuses on biomaterials and the use of nanoparticles for the detection and treatment of disease, the mechanical properties of materials, and the use of materials science to promote global development. He holds a BSc in mechanical engineering from King’s College in London, and a PhD in materials science and metallurgy from the University of Cambridge.
