2023 New Presidents Academy Cohort Gathers in Carlsbad, CA
The 2023 New Presidents Academy (NPA) cohort of 27 new presidents across the country met in Carlsbad, CA for an action-packed program centered around leading with our values, student success, equity, and democracy.
The NPA program is designed by experienced presidents and chancellors who are alum of the program and understand the knowledge and strategies needed to succeed as a new president and the importance of building a strong and supportive network of people to lean on.
Over the four days, participants grappled with core skillsets needed to thrive in the presidency such as financial management and leading in adversity but were also given opportunities to tap the knowledge in the room through case studies and problem-solving exercises of real current issues they are tackling on their campuses.
The cohort will continue to meet virtually for additional programming and community building and will be paired with a seasoned AASCU president/chancellor as their mentor for several months. The program will wrap up in person in conjunction with AASCU’s Annual Conference in Chicago Nov. 4-7.
