Michael Steiper

Michael Steiper is a faculty member and administrator at Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY) and a passionate advocate for equitable student success. In collaboration with faculty and staff, Steiper has advanced a range of initiatives that support student success, including a campus-wide early alert system and a novel multidisciplinary curriculum in human biology. Presently, Steiper is leading an National Science Foundation-supported transformation of our first-year STEM experience and is also developing strategies to improve the educational experiences of our transfer students. A first-generation college student, Steiper is working to ensure that higher education remains a transformative force for all students today. Steiper earned a master’s degree and doctoral degrees from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree from New York University.
